Terms of service.

The rules of the road when you buy from MotorSpores. Last updated October 6, 2026.

MotorSpores is owned and operated by CalyxBox LLC (Illinois, USA). Using the site or placing an order means you accept these terms. If anything's unclear, email hello@motorspores.com before you order.

1. What we sell

Fresh and dried culinary mushrooms grown at our farm. We sell mushrooms as food, not medicine. Reishi, Turkey Tail, and Cordyceps are sold as culinary or kitchen-decoction ingredients. We make no medical claims; these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and the products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

2. Allergy + foraging note

Some people are sensitive or allergic to mushrooms. If it's your first time trying a species, eat a small portion first. People on blood thinners should check with a doctor before adding Reishi or Turkey Tail decoctions to a daily routine. If you forage in addition to buying from us. Don't eat anything you haven't identified with absolute certainty.

3. Pricing + availability

Prices on the site are in USD and don't include tax (we collect Illinois sales tax where required). We may change prices and availability at any time. Active subscriptions are price-locked at signup. A future per-pound increase doesn't apply to existing subscribers until they pause/change/restart.

4. Subscriptions

  • Recurring billing runs through Stripe. We never see or store your card.
  • You can pause, skip, or cancel at any time from the Stripe Customer Portal. Link is in your welcome email and on every order confirmation.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe retries on a standard dunning schedule. If it eventually fails, the subscription pauses; no delivery is sent.
  • Cancelling stops future renewals but doesn't refund deliveries already shipped. See Returns.

5. Delivery

Within the 35-mile fresh-delivery zone we hand-deliver in our own vehicles. Outside the zone we ship dried-only products via USPS or UPS. See Shipping for cutoffs, windows, and zip-code eligibility.

6. Quality + freshness

We harvest within 24 hours of shipping. Fresh mushrooms keep well 5 to 7 days refrigerated in a paper bag. If something arrives damaged or doesn't meet quality, contact us within 24 hours of delivery for a refund or credit. Details on Returns.

7. Cancellation + refunds

Orders that haven't been packed yet can be cancelled by reply email or by hitting your Stripe receipt's "manage" link. Once packed, we move to the refund/credit policy in Returns.

8. Account security

You're responsible for the email account you use to manage your subscription. We use magic-link / Stripe-portal authentication. We never email you a password.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to MotorSpores products or services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific product or order in question. We're not liable for incidental or consequential damages.

10. Changes to these terms

We update these terms when our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes get an email to active customers.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA. Disputes are resolved in the state or federal courts of Lake County, Illinois.
