Returns & refunds
If it's not right,
we make it right.
Fresh mushrooms can't be physically returned (food safety), so our policy is built around fast refunds and credits without ever asking you to ship anything back.
The 24-hour quality window
If a fresh delivery arrives damaged, off-quality, missing items, or just not what was advertised. Contact us within 24 hours of delivery for a full refund or account credit (your pick).
A photo is helpful but not required. Tell us what species and what the issue is; we'll process the refund the same day. Stripe moves it back to your card in 5 to 10 business days, or we can apply credit instantly toward your next order.
Subscription deliveries
Same 24-hour window applies. If a subscription delivery has a problem, the refund is the same. But the subscription itself keeps running on its cadence (we don't auto-cancel it because of a single bad delivery, since that's almost always our fault to fix, not yours to lose access).
To skip the next delivery, pause, or cancel. Use the Stripe Billing Portal link in your welcome email. We don't refund deliveries that have already shipped, even if they haven't arrived yet, because at that point the mushrooms are in transit and they're yours.
Dried + shipped products
For dried mushrooms shipped outside the fresh zone:
- Damaged in transit. Full refund. We don't need the product back.
- Quality issue (mold, off smell). Full refund. Dried species should keep 6+ months when sealed; if yours doesn't, that's on us.
- Change of mind. Within 14 days of delivery, if unopened, we'll refund the product price minus a $5 restocking fee. (We can't legally resell opened food, sealed or not.)
What we can't refund
- Fresh mushrooms more than 5 to 7 days old (they're past the natural fresh window).
- Items reported damaged after the 24-hour window without prior notice.
- Quality issues caused by storage (mushrooms in a sealed plastic bag instead of paper, for example).
- Already-shipped subscription deliveries. Pause/cancel governs future ones.
How to file a claim
Three ways, whichever's easiest:
- Reply to your order confirmation email with the issue.
- Use the contact form with order # in the message.
- Text the number that sent your delivery-window heads-up.
If we mess up at scale
If we ever have a quality issue that affects an entire harvest day (rare, but possible. Climate stuff happens), we proactively email every customer whose order touched that batch and we refund without waiting for you to ask. The 10% to causes still gets credited from those orders. We don't claw donations back.
