Reishi Ginger Tea (Traditional Decoction)
Vegan swaps insideReishi is bitter, woody, and entirely meant for the cup. Not the plate. This is the classic 2,000-year-old preparation: a long, slow simmer that draws out the triterpenoids. Sweetened with honey and ginger.
-
1
Rinse the Reishi slices briefly under cold water to remove any dust.
-
2
Combine Reishi, ginger, and water in a medium saucepan. Add cinnamon and peppercorns if using.
-
3
Bring to a boil over high heat, then drop to the lowest possible simmer.
-
4
Cover partially and simmer 40-45 minutes. The water will reduce by about a third and turn deep mahogany.
-
5
Taste — Reishi is unmistakably bitter and woody. That's the compound profile, not a mistake.
-
6
Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a teapot or jar. (Save the slices — they can be re-decocted one more time.)
-
7
Stir in honey to taste. Serve hot with a lemon wedge on the side.
-
8
Store extra in the fridge up to 5 days. Reheat gently — do not microwave.

Reishi has a long history in traditional East Asian wellness practices and is currently studied for various effects. This is food-grade tea, not medical treatment. Talk to a healthcare provider before adding any new tonic to your routine, especially if you take medications.

A slow-steeped cold brew where dried Reishi rounds out coffee's edge — earthy, smooth, less acidic. 12-hour steep, strain, keep in the fridge. Drink straight or with a splash of oat milk.
Reishi-Honey Long Infusion (Daily Tonic Spoonful)
A slow-simmer honey infusion that captures Reishi's compounds in a sweet, spoonable carrier. Take a teaspoon straight, stir into hot water for an instant tonic, or drizzle over toast with butter.
