The story
Why this cause.
Growing Healthy Veterans (GHV) is 501 (c)(3) humanitarian organization dedicated to engaging veterans, active-duty military as well as the surrounding community of North Chicago in sustainable agricultural practices that enhance their physical and mental well-being. Our mission goes beyond cultivating gardens; we aim to connect veterans with their communities through meaningful projects.
We are committed to addressing food scarcity in under-served communities by empowering veterans and the community to create a food oasis. Through the utilization of our community garden, we provide veterans with opportunities for reintegration into society, exposure to horticulture, and a chance to make a lasting impact on North Chicago’s food landscape.
